Dr. Kumar has worked for over twenty years in the medical field. She first completed medical school in India, then completed her transitional residency in the US in Illinois and her family practice residency at the University of Minnesota. She has worked in family practice, primary care, and urgency care, focusing on chronic diseases, acute illness, well-child and adult physicals (including DOT physicals), and other common conditions. Since coming to Open Door in 2025, Dr. Kumar has found a real fondness for helping uninsured and underinsured individuals in the community health center setting. Her husband is also a doctor, working as a hospitalist at Abbott Northwestern. In her spare time, you’ll find Dr. Kumar reading philosophy, gardening, and volunteering at local food shelves.
