Position Summary

Open Door Health Center is seeking compassionate, flexible candidates for Enrollment Assister positions. The Enrollment Assister works to provide enrollment opportunities for people in communities across southern Minnesota, who lack access to healthcare and health insurance. Provide direct assistance to clients and patients to obtain health care benefits through MNsure (the MN health insurance exchange), including informing clients of all options, determining eligibility, and assisting with enrollment and follow up. Inform clients and patients of their health insurance options depending on their determination, the values of coverage, or provide referrals to brokers if necessary. Participate in and create outreach events, enrollment and marketing opportunities for MNsure and ODHC throughout southern Minnesota. Build & strengthen enrollment collaborations with local partner organizations.  The goal of this position and program is to increase health insurance coverage and access to affordable, quality, primary health care.  Providing information about ODHC services to support patients who could benefit from preventative, disease management or whole person care services, while supporting continued increase in number of people served clinically at ODHC.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with two years’ work experience in a community service organization, customer/patient service position, or closely related work, or a Bachelor’s Degree. Healthcare or public health work experience is helpful. Experience using computers and Windows software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write the Spanish or Somali language and has a good understanding of the Latino and/or Somali culture. Candidates must possess strong communication skills both oral and written and have the ability to interact professionally with a variety of stakeholders including patients, families, health professionals, community agencies, and government departments.

Knowledge of financial assistance/insurance programs which are available through state/federal agencies. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills and attention to detail. Demonstrate the ability to set goals, prioritize work load and work in a fast-paced and sometime stressful environment.
